Benefits of a high fiber diet are still controversial. The media is largely in favor of high fiber these days. Many books have been written about the topic, lots of money is being made with the latest high fiber products and diet advice. Some claim even cancer may be prevented with following a high fiber diet.
Yet, actual benefits derived from following a high fiber diet have never been entirely proven so far. Diabetic patients may control high blood sugar with a high fiber diet, cholesterol may be kept in check, bowel movements may be more regular. Following a high fiber diet may be a healthier way to nourish oneself, yet proof for its advantages are still outstanding.
